Teachers of DAV Pushpanjali are more than the classroom teachers who impart knowledge limited to books, they provide us with knowledge of life, emapthy, sympathy, understanding ourselves and others, skills of managememt, personality development and so much more than just education. We are able to be ourselves because of them, somehow every teacher in DAV has a contribution in my identity. I would not call the teachers just my best friends and leave it to that, I feel they are the angels who guided us towards good in life and when we went out of the course, they redirected us. They sailed us to who we are and to where we are today, like a captain of the ship. I am proud to be their student, a student of DAV Pushpanjali.

DAV pushpanjali teachers are special, not because they were highly qualified in their respected subjects, though they were even that, but actually because they werent exactly teachers.
They were truely our friends. They were not only there when we couldn't answer a question of ncert, but even when we couldnt answer several questions of our life. They not only taught us the syllabus, but truly the whole concept of life. The actually were the correct guides! From how to study, to how to get out of a fight.
They all were counsellors on their own.
Maybe thats why, they left a special print on each one's heart!

CBSE Class 12th Mathematics Study Tips

Greetings Readers,
This is our first feature blog by a female :D and my dear friend Yatika Sethi.
Give it a read!

Hey guys, it’s me Yatika Sethi.

Sagrika Behl has given me an opportunity to give you some tips on 'how to score 95 above in Class XII Mathematics paper’.

So many of us consider maths as the most difficult subject. But, let me tell you if you really wish to score 95 above in any one subject, maths will help you do this.
Maths is like a friend, you should first understand it, give it some time, and don’t give up. Then leave rest of the things on maths.
Trust me guys, maths is not at all difficult.

Now, first of all, I need to tell you how to study maths using these following tips:

1.You should do maths regular. Everyday should not be the word. But make sure you practice it 5 times a week.

2. Guys, first understand each and every concept of the chapter. Then try the questions.

3. Don't start two or more chapters simultaneously. First complete one chapter then go to the other.

4. These days tuition centers are an essential part in student's life. So if you are joining tuition for maths, then try to balance between school and tuition. Don't ignore school.

5. Do not leave any question or any concept undone of any chapter, unless and until your teacher say so.

6. Students try to complete every single possible book of maths, that's a good thing but don't overburden yourself with this.
First complete the book you have and then start the next book.

7.  Schools and tuition's go on a fast pace to complete the syllabus. You don't have to match with them. Study according to your capabilities. But don't procrastinate!

8. If you have done any chapter then make sure you revise its concepts regularly. So that any bit of it would not slip through your mind.

9. Don't hesitate to ask your friends or teachers any question. Even if you have a doubt in easiest question, you must ask your teacher.

10. Last but not the least; do not ignore your rest of the subjects because of maths. Make a balance between every subject.

Now guys, here is a list of few books that you should study from for maths if you are a Class XII student:

1. NCERT: This book should be your first priority. Don’t leave any page unread or any question undone.

2. R.D. Sharma: I know, almost many of the students consider this book as a nightmare. But trust me guys; there is no such book like this. At Least do the solved questions or do the important chapters from it like integration, determinants, AOD and probability. Do not study vectors and 3D from it.

3. U- like: When you finish your syllabus, don't waste even a minute, just start this book. This book will give you a clear picture where you need practice. Solving sample papers will help you sail your boat easily.

4. Supplementary book by NCT: Many of us don't know about this book. But this book is issued by govt in govt schools. Arrange this book because it contains some of the important board exam oriented questions. (Link for this book is provided below)

5. Together with Mathematics: This book has a mixture of NCERT, RD and questions of past CBSE exams.

6. Some more books are NCERT exemplar, Arihant sample papers etc. If you have time start these.

Now, how to avoid silly mistakes and may be that will help you score a perfect 100. In short, how to make your answer sheet perfect:

1. Handwriting plays a major role in defining your mental state. Make sure you write beautifully and clearly.

2. Guys, now try to understand what a teacher wants in your answer sheet. We have already talked about neatness. Apart from this, do not leave any scope for a teacher to cut marks on silly things which are writing the final answers, underline your answer, do not leave value based question, write dx while doing integration (you will study later), make '=' wherever possible, '-' (subtraction sign) can change your answer so do not ignore this sign. I know this is silly, but this will surely help you getting a 99 or 100.

3. When you get your half early or pre-board paper checked, go to any other teacher of your school or your tuition center and get it checked again. This will help you know the mindset of different teachers. And this will help you avoid silly mistakes.

4. Do not panic during exam, otherwise that will surely going to reflect in your answer sheet.

5. First read the question paper thoroughly, do questions line wise. If you do not know any question in between, leave the space.

6. Do not try to complete the paper before time. You have 3 hours, complete within 2 hours but not before that. Otherwise, chances of silly mistakes doubles up.

7. In last 15 minutes, check whether you have written the question number or not, final statement, diagrams wherever necessary, value based question, writing not so important things like multiplying numerator and denominator with so and so and the things discussed above.

8. Revise each and every question at least 2 times. Even if the question is to prove and you have done it right, you again have to check it.

9. Most importantly, do not just focus on getting the answer; rather try to focus on how to present the solution.

10. If you have done any question wrong, just cut it with a line neatly and write where you have solved that question.

Now just a quick tips to follow just before your board exam:

1. Sample papers are a must. Solve past 10 years question papers - All India, foreign, Delhi, and compartment. Try to solve them, the way you will solve your board exam. Sit for 3 hours with all your important things. Get it checked by your teacher.
Please do not sit in the examination center without doing this.

2. Now, you don't have time to revise the books you have done earlier. So now focus yourself on NCERT and together with.

3. You should make list of the formulas and concepts of every chapter so that you can revise them easily.

4. You have to complete your syllabus by January so that you don't have any tension about any chapter.

5. You will get the date sheet in January. So after knowing how many preparatory leaves you are getting, make a time table so that not a single leave go wasted.

Link for supplementary NCT book will be available after October on site :

Scoring a 100 is a matter of luck, but we can bring luck in our favour. Just hope for the best. There is no shortcut to success; hard-work is surely going to work.
I think I have written more than enough. Still you have any doubts, contact me on Facebook.
All the best 12thies go and rock it.

I certainly agree with Yatika Sethi and will recommend you her tips because she scored 100 in CBSE Class 12th Mathematics 2014-2015

CBSE Class 12th ACCOUNTANCY Study Tips

Greetings Readers :)
Here I am Sagrika Behl presenting to you another feature post regarding CBSE BOARD exams ! :D
Not scaring you at all but rather trying to help you.

Presenting words of ARPIT GOEL :

ACCOUNTANCY

1.       First of all check the new syllabus and guidelines and prepare accordingly. There is always a slight change with respect to how the items are to be treated otherwise you will end up making blunders.

2.       CONCEPT CLARITY is an absolute must in every single thing you do. Never try to mug up how the items are to be treated. Always understand the logic behind their treatment.

3.       PRACTICE as much as you can. You should practice from two books at least and try to finish them by December so that you have ample time for clearing your doubts and for revision.

4.       Never ignore theory part even though it may seem boring. 10 – 15 marks are theory based and are in fact the easiest ones to score.

5.       Give regular topic wise tests. It will help you increase your speed and accuracy.

6.       Some chapters like SHARE CAPITAL, CASH FLOW and DISSOLUTION etc. need more attention as there are more chances of committing mistakes in them.

7.        Always refer to past year questions. You will get a hint of type of questions that usually comes from a chapter. For example Journal Entries from dissolution of partnership generally come in board exams.

8.       Always mark 7-10 questions from each chapter which you think are the most difficult ones and cover all the important parts of that chapter so that you can solve them 1 or 2 days before the final exam.

9.       Give around 10 full syllabus tests. In the beginning you will struggle to finish the paper but if you keep practicing, eventually you will finish the paper in 150 minutes. It will also test the accuracy of your calculations under pressure.

10.   If during a paper the balance of accounts don’t match or the balance sheet does not match, leave the question there itself and move ahead otherwise that question will eat up a lot of time. In the end, first revise everything and if you have time left then you can try to find out the mistake in that question.

11.   Avoid overwriting in especially in figures and use a whitener instead.

With Wishes,

Arpit Goel

HOW TO PREPARE FOR CLASS 12 BOARD EXAMS

Greetings readers :D Here's another feature post by Arpit Goel :

1. The first thing to do to as soon as you enter class 12 is to be mentally prepared that you are in class 12 and that everyone will keep reminding you about it.

2. Avoid procrastination i.e. posting things for future. Set daily or at least weekly studying goals and make sure you fulfill them.

3. Stay in touch with a teacher who checks board’s papers as he/she can give you valuable tips that can prove to be very crucial.

4. Always check the latest syllabus and specific guidelines of each and every subject as there as minor changes in them every year which can lead to blunders in exams.

5. Never mug up things as it will not fetch you more than 80% marks. If you want to go beyond that barrier then concept clarity is a must even in theoretical subjects.

6. After completing one topic/chapter/2 chapters(as per your convenience) make sure that you give a test so that you identify weak points so that work upon them early not leaving everything for future.

7. After the end of each fortnight take out a day or two to revise whatever you have studied.
8. As soon as December starts take tests regularly. By the time you give your board exams you should have given 8-10 proper full syllabus tests. This will help you in identifying out your weak areas, time management and build up confidence.

9. Aim to finish your syllabus by mid-December so that you have ample time for clearing your doubts and revision work.

10. Don’t let tension and stress get better of you. It kills your confidence and your precious time.

11. Avoid burnouts i.e. studying for long durations in one go. Engage yourself in other activities like sports, music or anything that gives you joy.

12. When in doubt consult teachers and TRUSTWORTHY friends.

CBSE Class 12th Political Science Study Tips

Greeting Readers as requested we have study tips for class 12th Political Science :D by my friend Rahul Chaudhary. He scored 97 in political science board exam! This is our first feature blog hope you find this helpful.

Tip 1: NCERT is God
Each pol.sc. chapter is in itself a carefully explained story containing huge ( I admit ) but relevant information to the events that happen .Most if not all chapters have kind of a story. My personal favourite was the chapter which narrated Indira Gandhi's political battle to reclaim the might congress' lost power in the 1967 elections. How and why congress lost how Indira dealt with it and her major comeback is an awesome political plot I would never turn down.

Long story short: Use the NCERT as it narrates the story in the best way possible. NCERT gives you a kind of a ''script '' which you can further improve on using other guide books and sample papers.

Tip 2: NCERT First, then the guides:
As mentioned above, NCERT provides a fairly articulate ‘’story’’ of the chapter you can follow in a systematic and well understandable sequence. This sequence, you should know, is extremely important if you want to have long-term and stable knowledge of the chapters.
Rather than memorizing random questions and dates from the guides on the last day before the exam, give some time to the ‘’story ‘’ told in the NCERT. In the long-term this will be really benefiting, even if it doesn’t helps you immediately in the first UT’s (which, nobody gives a damn about except those petty little nerds who think everyone is supposed to be scoring good all the time.)

According to me this is the perfect way to go:

1.) Read NCERT ALONGWITH YOUR TEACHER
( I didn’t do this and then suffered  , that’s why I know this is important ) and whatever is taught in the school , revise it at home . Now you are not expected to memorise all the dates , political figures , countries , summits , meetings etc the very day they are taught but at least you would develop a fairly good idea as to what the chapter is about and basically ‘’class mein kya chal raha hai ? ‘’ (my personal favourite question)
This also allows you to give special attention to each single chapter rather than rushing through them and then mixing them up.

2.) After the chapter ends, give it a RE-READ on a free-day or a weekend, to know the entirety of the chapter’s events and ‘’story ‘’.

3.)  Now hit the guides. This will help you know what kinds of questions can be posed and regarding which part of the chapter, which questions are more relevant and will let you have an idea of what kind of and how the language of the answer is to be. Pro tip: Try to be better than even the guides, even though if it’s just by a notch.

3.) Big words work, but not all the time.
You gotta have the bookish and technical language in your mind to make your answer look more technical, informative to let the teacher know that you are through with the bookish vocabulary. The teachers openly say that you need to have the bookish language to get the upper hand. I am not personally a fan of writing long and complicated answers when they can be simple, but desperate measures for desperate times. Bookish language works wonder 90% of the time.

But then again your answer should also have some sense and cohesiveness in it. It should not be just random information being thrown like holi balloons. It should be a systematic, well-written answer with a sequence.

4.) Maps, Boxes, Table, Graphs.
The notorious map questions and 5 markers are the area where you must know all about the maps, boxes, tables, graphs etc provided in the NCERT. These often include newspaper clippings, cartoons, images, maps, (extremely brief) descriptions of important personalities. The 5 markers are where I am sure I lost my marks because I never focused enough on all this stuff just because it was not a part of the main text.

5.) The most cliché: Regular study
I don’t even need to explain this. Everyone must have since... like... the 6th standard.
Revise what you have been taught at school , don’t be shy to ask doubts , go to the teacher personally if you think some douches will make fun of you for asking a particular doubt . No doubt is TOO small.
6.) Other tips:

i.) Do sample papers. First try to attempt 50 markers with 2-3 chapters.  Then the next bunch of chapters with the same format. After you’ve done all the chapters, try to do 100 marks’ papers with the entire book.

ii.) Try to understand chapters are now evaluative questions are too a part of the paper format. Evaluative questions are the ones which don’t have a specific answer to them. You cannot use the ‘copy-paste ‘strategy in these questions as they require understanding of the chapter, context. In some cases you may even be needed to be well aware of how each chapter (from both the books) correlates to the other chapter (across both the books).  The chapter on planned economy, rise of popular movements have a common link: agricultural growth and focusing on rural agricultural groups (farmers).  US’ hegemony helps in understanding globalization better.

iii.) Last but not the last, don’t neglect any question just because it was ‘’ never there in any of the sample papers or last year’s paper ‘’. Yes, there are some important questions that should be your first priority in the short run, but to be safe in the long run, every question should be in your mind and the answer for it.

Additional Tips by Yoshita Mehta

#Reading is the best way along with your teachers, bench-mates etc so that you should understand the depth of each and every chapter.

  • For world book
1. One should surely makes lists of the events happened along with countries, dates and additional information.

2. Make side notes or write on sticky paper so that you remember the relevant part with the text, that notes can be followed with examples or important questions for better understanding.

  • For India book

1. It's a must to work on the cartoons because they are a little difficult for students who never watched news as in textbooks we have different faces which are similar to the political figures. Ask your teacher the story behind every cartoon or use a guide find those cartoons and make a side note describing the cartoon.

2. Step notes with connecting chapter , most of the chapters are connected to each other but some are independent in themselves , so while preparing for the exam one should separately prepare for those chapters.

Note: Words of your teachers are not less than bible .. one should drink the mixture as a whole.

Additional Tips by Sagrika Behl

I think I should mention the names of reference books!
1. Together with Pol sci
2. U like Sample Papers
3. For cartoons, maps, paragraph questions JPH but just for those, question answers are irrelevant in this book!
And yeah while studying the chapters have a tiny small notebook in hand and keep writing names and events as they come by. It will prove to be very useful for you while revision.
That’s all
