STORY BEHIND OUR NAME

Hello people! Namaste! Adaab! Sata sri akala!

Our blog is 4 posts old now & I think you all must be wondering the meaning of our blog name & of course, the story behind this name.. Go ahead & find out answers to these questions ;-)

First of all I'd like to give you a little introduction about me and Sagrika. We both are two teenage girls I'm seventeen & Sagrika eighteen. We wanted to open the blog since long time but weren't able to get time to do so. Thanks to these freaking exams! Apparently, we have been giving exams since last six months! Yes! You read me right! Last 6 months! Half an year and unfortunately this suffering isn't over yet but yet I couldn't wait more to write something for you all & TADAA! I'm here!

{Sorry everyone for getting off-track I get really senti when it comes to exams :-P }

So coming back to the story, we finally opened the blog, or betterly Sagrika opened the blog making me her co partner! And then we came across a major challenge, what should be the name of the blog? This might sound stupid but this is actually a challenge guys! You know why? 'coz in this fast pace internet world with more than one billion websites & five hundred million websites it's not an easy task to chose a name which is not taken.. So after a long discussion we ended up with the name "DOLCE REFLECTION". "Dolce" is actually not an English word but a Italian word which means sweet & reflection means thoughts. For most of Science students, like me, reflection would have meant throwing back of light or sound, ('coz we have two long chapters of OPTICS in our Physics book carrying maximum weight age) isn't it? ;-) But it also means serious sweet thoughts.

And hence in this blog we will share some thoughts that will come across everyone's mind sometimes before and sometimes after reading our blog.. Thoughts that sometimes might change your way of thinking.. Thoughts that some of you might have never thought about..And some thoughts that you embrace everyday... So that's why we baptized our blog Dolce Reflection!

Hope you all enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it :-)

Bye bye my lovely readers!

With loads of love

Rashmi Gera  :-)

Khwaahish Lunch Date Challenge :D

Now here is something amazing that I want to share with everyone...
So Good Life beautiful readers :)

I, Dolce Reflection writer, Sagrika Behl am part of INTERACT CLUB
Now this club at college level is known as ROTRACT
And overall is known as ROTARY CLUB

I being a Zonal Interact Representative (ZIR), New Delhi got the opportunity to do something heartfelt for someone :D by completing a challenge :)

This challenge is called #KhwaahishLunchDateChallenge
Under which we have to:
- Take any homeless kid to Mc.Donalds (specifically).
- Talk to them.
- Further nominate at least 5 more friends.
- Mention who nominated you.
- Don't forget to post a picture with the hashtag #KhwaahishLunchDateChallenge (You can upload on facebook or instagram)
and sorry there are no return gifts as this is to be done with self devotion and choice.
And most importantly, DO IT WITH A SMILE

Now my experience of taking this challenge was amazing. Kids like me who have internet connection, friends, and enough money to fulfil their basic needs don't realise how lucky we are to have all this luxury we are living in, sure we have struggles in our lives too but there are people who don't have a shelter, who are starving themselves, who even though can afford a 32 burger but don't get the chance to taste it because they are not allowed inside MC Donalds as they are afraid to be accused as thieves.

Take up this challenge not just to be update another profile picture but to let such people have a sense of peace while having a little meal, to see that toothy smile after a little meal saying thank you to you, to see that you've made someone’s day. You have made someone happy, and I am sure this feeling will make you proud, satisfied and happy with your own self.

So I completed this challenge along with my friend by taking this 12 year old girl, Aarti and her little sister Jyoti to Mc Donalds and treating them with burgers and ice creams.

Nepal Earthquakes

While singing Taylor's blank space in my head and reading Word Power made easy by Norman Lewis, I realized that my father is calling me to inform about the latest tremor felt by him due to Nepal's Earthquake of 12 May.

What was my take on it? I didn't feel anything, which I am guessing is the reaction of a lot of people in New Delhi. But do we feel anything regarding it? What is our actual takes on these earthquakes? When the first quake took place in Nepal on 25 April with magnitude of 7.8 I thought it was a minor earthquake near my hometown but apparently that wasn't the case and I was shocked for a moment. Being a typical teenage girl I thought that maybe the infamous movie 2012 is actually going to turn into a reality. But returning to my original thoughts I thought that if I felt the tremor being thousands of miles away from the epicenter what would have been the condition in Nepal?

I think this was the moment when we all switched on the news app on our tabloids and read about the Gorkha earthquake and switched the channels to see the visuals of the state of the devastation in Nepal. It was heartbreaking to see the level of devastation but I think the common thought running through our minds was 'It could have been me, instead of them.' and that thought made me realize that while we are carrying out our daily activities and cribbing on small things in life, life is uncertain the ruler of this kingdom is still nature, there are things which cannot be predicted, planned or foreseen. But as individuals who were left harmless in this earthquake, we question ourselves that have I lived enough in my life to face such uncertainty? Where I can die or almost turn our backs to death any second? Have I made it fruitful enough? Have I achieved what I wanted to?

We all have our responses and now its up to us that how we want to shape our lives? Seize the day while you can readers. Life is uncertain and death is inevitable, but don't stop yourself from this fear, show courage after all ' Courage is not the absence of fear, it’s just a realization that something is more important than fear.'

People have lost their lives in this earthquake and lost their loved ones, their dear ones. Try to help natives of Nepal by contributing any amount that you can through various NGO's or any relief organization.
